Gaze upon my new snow tires. I will put them on the day before the first snow fall. Usually early November.
I l
ike the differences between the older ws70’s and these ws80’s. I’m going tonsell the old ones on Craigslist.

The rule (or so I was told) in Germany was Halloween to Easter for snows, I still follow it. I am ready for an early winter though.

I like those wheels. Mine look like shit.

I picked up the wheels and tires last winter for $700, some guy had a kid and had to sell his Mustang GT. They are massive 275/40R19 and won’t be cheap to replace. What wheels do you have?

Too many cold dry days here for that. My snows are like driving on a koosh ball on dry tarmac.

I need to sell mine...guess now is about the right time to list them.

I have the cheapest aluminum wheels les swab sells and the clear coat has bubbled and is pealing off from corrosion. I’m thinking about plasti dip white.

I'm getting new tires installed this Friday. Blizzaks. And scrapping the old all seasons. Going to be on the snows from the start of October to the end of February, when I get new Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring tires onto my second set of rims. I know that means more wear on the winters but that's fine by me. It's my first full winter season with the Queen.

Nice! We’ve got brandy-new snows for my wife’s Mini, and I picked up a set with ~600 miles on them for my car - both sets have their own wheels, so I can wait, it’s a quick swap. Probably Thanksgiving or so, at least for mine - maybe a bit sooner for my wife’s , with it’s run-flat summer tires.

If there is any snow on the road it could be near impossible to get to our house in my Mazda without the snow tires.

Do you get into the snow that much? I think a crown Vic would shred blizzaks, I would probably go for something designed for a light truck.

The Blizzaks I'm getting are for light SUVs. And no, snow is a rarity here, but with the incoming onset of freezing temps at night and my nightly commute home at 3AM, I'm likely to encounter some nasty surprises. That and I plan to visit the mountains a few times.

Actually, on second thought I'm thinking about waiting until November. Long term forecasts look super mild...

Even in Montana I usually put my snows on around mid November. Just don’t wait for the December rush.

Yeah, think I’ll wait for November. If I had a bit more money, I’d just move the old cop tires to my newer rims for all seasons.

I probably should put new tires on the 4runner before winter. The all-terrains on there have okay tread and claim to be snow rated but they’re old and questionable. I think there’s a nail in one, too.

I almost never put dedicated snows onto a 4x4 unless you are planning on throwing down a ton of highway miles on solid ice. They do fine in 4wd, you just need to take it easy.

I’m not planning on dedicated snow tires, just snow-rated all terrains which aren’t A) at 30% tread remaining and B) 6 years old

Ahh..... that makes sense.

Surprisingly TireRack doesn’t have a ton of options that fit the bill in the right size (265/70R16) that I like, then again I’m not all that experienced in shopping for this type of tire . Going to have to do some shopping around.

I am waiting for it to rain before I put my Nokians on the Subaru. Hoping to also make it until just about November for that as well. There is still a tiny amount of tread left on my summer tires so they will be alright without rain. Rain in LA is always a shit show though just because it literally hasnt rained one drop since at least like April. First ski trip is planned for Nov 16th so I have some time to enjoy the Falkens for a little bit longer.

Your car with snow tires is going to be amazing. I understand the Nokians are great too but I’ve had such good luck with bridgstone I’m sticking with those for now.

Well I only went with the Nokians because they are an all weather tire instead of the typical full on snow tire. This will be a compromise for absolute snow traveling ability, but it should be worth it in order to use them on dry pavement mostly. And this will be without being a stupid no season tire with its “M+S” crap rating. I am imagining it will still do better than my Miata on real snow tires though.
